Clinical supervision is a crucial and meaningful component in the training and development of counselors. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS), through the state of North Carolina (License #: S10766), I have received 45 hours of approved clinical supervision training, more than 2,500 hours of direct client contact hours, and 5 years of full-time professional counseling work. Being a LCMHCS I:

• Serve as a sounding board for career options and exploration 

• Utilize ethical decision-making models for counseling professionals

• Provide instruction on specific clinical and case-conceptualization skills

• Encourage counselors to bring forth their own voice in their role

• Review session recordings and documents

• Value counselors’ approaches and various perspectives

• Identify needs of both the counselor and the client

• Support self-reflection and development of a healthy therapeutic relationship

• Offer insight and constructive feedback on practices

• Raise awareness to empower, encourage, and explore appropriate interventions
